Evana and Yiannys at The Crystal Tea Ballroom
Philadelphia, PA

April 27, 2023

The ceremony itself was a beautiful blend of old and new, with ancient Greek Orthodox traditions blending seamlessly with modern touches. The couple exchanged rings and vows in front of the ornate altar of the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, surrounded by family and friends. But it was the little touches that made this ceremony truly special. The couple was adorned with traditional Greek wedding crowns, or “stefana”, which symbolize the unity of two becoming one. The crowns were placed on their heads by the priest, and the couple then circled the altar three times to symbolize their journey together in the presence of God.

The reception was held at the Crystal Tea Ballroom, a stunning venue that perfectly complemented the classic and traditional theme of the wedding. The decor was simple yet elegant, with touches of gold and green that brought warmth and vibrancy to the space. But the real showstopper was the traditional Greek dancing, which had guests on their feet all night long.

The dancing was led by the bride and groom, who kicked off the festivities with a traditional Greek dance known as the “kalamatianos”. This was followed by the “zeibekiko”, a dance that emphasizes individual expression and improvisation. The night was filled with joyous celebration, as family and friends joined in the dancing and feasting on delicious Greek cuisine.

Capturing the beauty and emotion of such a unique and special event is an honor. The richness of culture and tradition that is woven throughout a Greek wedding is a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment. From the intricate details of the dress and ceremony to the lively dancing and delicious food, every aspect of this celebration was a true feast for the senses.
